Removing Battery Corrosion

 TECHTIPS by Bill Stephens

If you discover that the batteries in your flashlight or portable device have leaked, causing corrosion on the contacts, you can clean them easily by using White Vinegar and Q-tips. Most discoveries of corrosion occur on-site in one of my most important pieces of equipment, so I carry a very small bottle of vinegar and a supply of Q-tips in a plastic pill bottle and toss it into my show box. If you have a Maglite flashlight and the Duracell batteries have leaked, you can contact Maglite or Duracell and they may replace your flashlight at no charge.
